Fierce Compassion: Setting Boundaries

The heart does not have to close in order to define a limit. Fierce Compassion refers to a way of setting boundaries clearly and skillfully while, at the same time, maintaining a sense of connection and authenticity.

In this course, we cultivate ways to simultaneously maintain a strong backbone and an open heart through mutual respect, deep listening, and compassionate communication. We develop the capacity for authentically relating as we engage in guided meditation, practical skill-building, mindful discussion, and experiential practices.

Sometimes we say “Yes” when we really want to say “No” because we think that saying no might be selfish or mean. But, here’s the thing … In order for folks to trust our “Yes” it’s essential that they trust we’ll say “No” when that’s what’s true. Far from being selfish, setting boundaries skillfully is an essential part of creating and cultivating healthy relationships.

Setting boundaries skillfully is:

  • An act of compassion for oneself, another person, and the relationship;

  • An essential aspect of Spiritual Activism;

  • A path to cultivating deeper intimacy and creativity in relationship;

  • A way of turning conflicts into connection through increased understanding and positive regard.

In this 4-week course, we explore cultivating a healthy relationship with boundaries in service of enhancing respect, connection and the greater good.
