MBMS Values

What We Do

Healing & Transformation:

  • We honor each individual’s pace and path to healing, growth, and transformation. We hold space for discovery, offering practices to cultivate new and deeper connection to Self.

  • We honor our whole experience as human beings, which includes joy, pain, anger, suffering, delight… the full spectrum of emotion.

  • We celebrate vulnerability and nurture self-compassion as the fertile ground for healthy evolution and authentic expression of Self.

Community / Being in Relationship:

  • We are committed to creating and sustaining a community environment of being awake and being kind as embodied through skillful communication and mutually beneficial action.

  • We honor and value diversity in experience and culture.

  • We are open to what is emerging between us and what is beyond both/all of us.

  • We are committed to meeting people where they are by providing a wide range of breadth and depth in our offerings.

Evolution of Consciousness

  • We acknowledge that through meditation practices, we have the capacity to positively impact neurological and physiological human functioning, and that these shifts have the potential to be passed down through generations of humanity, thus influencing the evolution of humanity.

  • We believe that the practice of meditation contributes to a collective expansion of consciousness that will shift how the world at large functions for the better.

  • We seek out offerings that push the edge of current world views and belief systems in order to expand our capacity to acknowledge a wide variety of perspectives, in service of contributing to the evolution of consciousness.

  • We create offerings that meet a variety of perspectives and positions in the evolution of consciousness.

How We Do It

Diversity & Equity

  • We are committed to increasing and maintaining a diversity of teachers with regard to age, sex, sexual orientation, race, religion/belief, and gender identity.

  • We are dedicated to ongoing learning about and eliminating unconscious biases.

  • In service of keeping this value in the foreground of our awareness and action, we commit to reviewing our action in the area of diversity and equity every 2 months.

  • We are committed to developing and offering financially accessible opportunities to learn about and practice mindfulness and meditation.

Integrity, Excellence, & Relevance

  • We bring our best and wisest effort to each offering, seeking to share information and practices that are well-researched, evidence-based, and comprehensive. We do so in a manner that is thoughtfully organized, presented, and facilitated.

  • Our offerings are accessible and relevant, responsive to participants’ interests, needs, and lived experience.

  • Because we are speaking to the needs, interests, and lived experience of a wide variety of people, our offerings span diverse topics and pathways in mindfulness and spirituality.

Embodiment & Action

  • We offer programming that goes beyond teaching intellectual concepts to facilitating embodied experiences of those concepts and themes.

  • We teach participants how to translate what they are learning and experiencing through their meditation practice into practical application in daily life.

  • We believe that meditation practice is at its most powerful when we allow it to integrate into our body and impact how we take action in the world, including but not limited to personal, relational, societal, political, and cultural arenas.
