Sharing Our Stories
Recently, Marianne and I wrote our story, the story of a vision, of two teachers, of our callings to be of service in an ever changing world, and of what happens when intention meets the power of community. You are a part of this story, see, because here you are!
Speaking our stories is powerful — storytelling asks us to remember, to identify what is important, and to make meaning. When we speak our story, we use our voice and bear witness to what we have experience.
Sharing our stories with each other is powerful — we understand each other more deeply, we are amazed by what we have in common, we are amazed by how we are different, we are inspired by the meaning that is shared.
As you may know, every Tuesday evening, we gather for discussion and guided meditation. I’m happy to be hosting the current series of gatherings, and our theme is "Sharing Our Stories." Every week, we’re sharing with each other about our adventures, misadventures, and learnings, and as we speak and listen, we’re offering the gift of seeing and being seen.
I hope you’ll join us if you haven't already… and as I’ve been reflecting on stories, it’s dawning on me that every offering at the Studio holds space for our stories. From the ongoing groups and courses to the drop-in meditations and monthly classes, there is always an invitation for each participant to offer a peek into their world, to say, “this is what it’s like for me right now.” It’s this sharing that helps us integrate and assemble meaning from the practices and teachings that are being offered. It’s this sharing that brings us closer to each other and creates the warmth of community.
I feel honored to hear your stories and to be part of each other’s stories.
