Mid-Week Sea Change: Contemplate with Thomas Berry

“The time has come to lower our voices, to cease imposing our mechanistic patterns on the biological processes of the earth, to resist the impulse to control, to command, to force, to oppress, and to begin quite humbly to follow the guidance of the larger community on which all life depends.”
– Thomas Berry

We have been born and are living our lives at a time in the history of Earth where so much of what we have known is collapsing around us, where it seems there are no answers and we enter into the unknown. It is at this time that the voice and vision of Thomas Berry calls to us to listen and find meaning and a new way into the future.

On Wednesdays, Feb. 4 - April 1, we will pause for a half-hour to contemplate the illuminating wisdom of geologian and cultural historian Thomas Berry. Thomas Berry: A Book of Hours, edited by Kathleen Deignan, will be our guide. For nine weeks, as we pause and enter into communion with Thomas we will deepen into the understanding of what he called the Ecozoic Age – when the human and natural world go together into the future in a mutually enhancing relationship. Present to the Cosmos, Earth, and one another, Thomas will connect us to a transforming vision so necessary during these times when many are struggling to make sense of life and find meaning.

Purchasing the book Thomas Berry: A Book of Hours would be very helpful but not necessary.

You need not commit to all nine weeks. Join us on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. (Pacific) / Noon (Eastern) when you are available to do so..
